Reception

Welcome to Class 1

Miss Harwin and Mrs Broughton are here to give you a big warm welcome to our Reception class! We love being part of your learning journey!

Let's discover and learn through play!

Uniform

Each day your child will need to wear school uniform. They will also need suitable clothing to access our outdoor provision. We go out in ALL weathers! Our clothes might sometimes get dirty but this shows all our wonderful learning!

PE

The children will take part in PE each week. This will be every Friday. On these days please send your child with PE kits which consists of black trousers/shorts and a white t-shirt with black pumps.

Reading

Please make sure your child brings their book bag everyday. Your child will receive three books a week from school.

1- A decodable book at their reading level which we would like them to share with you daily.

2- A guided reading book which we will have read all week in school and this is at a level appropriate for their age.

3- A reading for pleasure book which your child has chosen for their grown ups to read to them.

Please can you write in their reading diary when they have read at home so we can celebrate this with them in school and monitor their reading progress.

Reminder

Please can you make sure their name is on all uniform and clothing including coats and shoes, as we have found some clothes which unfortunately, do not have names in and they all look the same!

Song of the week

Each week the children learn a new nursery rhyme or song. It has been proven that when children hear and sing nursery rhymes, lullabies and simple songs, then we are preparing their ear, voice and brain for language development.

My Feelings Song

(Sing to the tune of ‘Frère Jacques’)

How I’m feeling, how I’m feeling,

Look at me, look at me.

Playing with some new toys, playing with some new toys,

Happy me, happy me.

How I’m feeling, how I’m feeling,

Look at me, look at me.

Fell and hurt my elbow, fell and hurt my elbow,

Unhappy, unhappy.

How I’m feeling, how I’m feeling,

Look at me, look at me.

Someone took the best toy, someone took the best toy,

Angry me, angry me.

How I’m feeling, how I’m feeling,

Look at me, look at me.

Hearing some loud noises, hearing some loud noises,

Worried me, worried me.

How I’m feeling, how I’m feeling,

Look at me, look at me.

Reading bedtime stories, reading bedtime stories,

Sleepy me, sleepy me.
