Early Years
Welcome to Early Years at Netherfield Infants
Our Early Years Foundation Stage at Netherfield Infant School provides a nurturing, engaging and inspiring start to school life.
We offer both Nursery (Foundation Stage 1) and Reception (Foundation Stage 2) provision. Our Nursery class is Cherry, and our Reception class is Hazel, where children begin their exciting learning journey in a warm and supportive environment.
At Netherfield Infant School, we believe children learn best when they feel happy, confident and supported. Our dedicated team works hard to create an environment where every child can thrive.
Across both Nursery and Reception, our curriculum is designed to spark curiosity, encourage independence and build strong foundations for future learning. We provide a rich, play-based environment where children can explore, discover and develop essential skills across all areas of learning.
Our Reception provision builds on the strong start made in Nursery, supporting children as they grow in confidence, develop their early reading, writing and mathematical skills, and prepare for the transition into Key Stage 1. We place a strong emphasis on communication, personal development and developing a lifelong love of learning.
We are proud to work in close partnership with families to ensure that each child’s earliest experiences in school are positive, meaningful and full of joy.
Applying for a Reception place
Applications for Reception are managed through Nottinghamshire County Council. Parents and carers can apply online during the application window, usually in the autumn term before their child is due to start school. We warmly encourage families to contact us if they would like any support with the application process.
We would be delighted to welcome visitors and prospective children with their families into school to see what makes our Early Years provision so special. Please contact the school office via email or telephone to arrange a visit:
